Nepal Policy Institute (NPI) is an international think-tank and a knowledge-platform dedicated to the people-centred and sustainable development of Nepal and Nepali people, including diaspora Nepali. It was conceived as a global initiative of Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) to unleash the potential of Nepali diaspora to build a prosperous Nepal as guided by ‘NRNA Vision 2020 and Beyond’. This was subsequently endorsed in Article 20.6 of NRNA Constitution 2003 (Amendment 2017), certified by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Nepal. The 60th NRNA International Coordination Council (ICC) meeting held on the 8th December 2017 appointed the Chair of the institute with the mandate to materialize the vision of policy institute. Accordingly, the chair developed its Terms of Reference (ToR) and its governance structure and formed an interim executive committee nominating the prominent professionals from global Nepali diaspora and residential professionals from Nepal in the team. NPI became functional after the approval of its ToR by the 61st Meeting of NRNA ICC held on 11th February 2018.
Formal collaboration began between Government of Nepal and NPI
